Microsoft picks ten to 'do or die'
Microsoft recently revealed the ten finalists in its Facebook-based contest, Do or Die. Available only to Canadians, the top ten entrants are currently trying to convince Facebook users and fans that they have what it takes to win the competition.
Each contestant is taking on fan-initiated challenges leading up to the final to try and swing the vote.
Three of the top ten will be sent to a foreign city with only a Windows PC, a Windows Phone 7 and a one human companion as survival tools and no other bare necessities at all; no food, no money, no shelter, no motor-car... Just the clothes on their back and their Windows devices.
Connecting to their new-found community through their Windows-based devices will be the contestants' only means of "survival."
The contestants were chosen during casting calls as Microsoft searched for Canadians with the quickest wit, the most connections and the apparent street smarts to win the Do or Die competition. Grilled with penetrating questions such as "Where is the strangest place you've bathed?", "If you had a magical power, what would it be?" and "How many Facebook friends do you have?" Microsoft was somehow able to ascertain the street smarts and creativity of each contestant based on answers provided.
The top ten are Whitney Bragagnolo, Dominic McDowell, Josette Jorge and Tevor Jones of Vancouver, BC; Jennifer Leung and Danielle Barker from Toronto, ON; Alex Hugh from Markham, ON; Kira-Jade Roebuck from Sarnia, ON; and Richard Veltri of Simcoe, ON while Rodolpha Louis from Montreal, QB was given the token French-Canadian slot.

The three finalists will be announced on Monday, June 6, 2011.
