Nintendo has officially pegged June 8 for the launch of Wii MotionPlus. A $19.99 accessory that snaps into the bottom of a Wii remote controller (Wii-mote) and allows the whole thing to respond with "finer detail and with greater accuracy than ever before."
Many argue that this new technology should have been included in the Wii-mote all along, was implied, yet not delivered, making most Wii games thus far mere "waggle" exercises, not anything remotely like the "real time light saber simulators" that were promised.
Nintendo also announced that the first Nintendo game to utilize MotionPlus, Wii Sports Resort, will be available on July 26. This Wii Sports sequel will come bundled with the Wii Motion Plus Technology for $49.99.
Reportedly, Sega's Virtua Tennis 2009 and EA's Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, each expected in June, will also support MotionPlus control.
