A boy and his sofa, the morality play
"Just 5 more minutes!" and "Just let me finish this level!" Families around the world hear these proclamations from kids when asked to put down their videogame controller. Small incentive: there's now a book for them to read.

If you've got kids, game industry veteran Scott Langteau coins a new name for the "Just 5 more minutes!" and "Just let me finish this level!" phenomenon: Sofa Boy.

Available now at Amazon and elsewhere for $14.95, Sofa Boy is a new kid's book that paints a picture of an extreme case of gaming obsession.

Accompanied by artwork from illustrator Rion Vernon, the morality play espouses moderation in gaming habits by showing the fantastical fate of one boy who wouldn't put the controller down to play outside, have dinner, take a bath, or go to bed. Sound familiar?

The irony, of course, is that innate difficulty of getting one's own private Sofa Boy to put the controller down long enough to read the book about the kid that wouldn't put the controller down.
