As expected, Nintendo Wii has officially become the best selling console of this generation in all regions. That is, after 20 months on the market, stats released from industry data analyst NPD Group in July shows Wii has emerged as the No. 1 U.S. console, the only sales market Xbox 360 still led.

Hitting top spot on a worldwide basis back in April, just this June Wii also became the best-selling video game console in the United States with nearly 10.9 million systems sold.

More recent (July) combined sales data from VGCharts.com shows Wii has sold almost 30 million system worldwide, Microsoft has sold almost 20 million Xbox 360s and Sony has sold almost 15 million PlayStation3s worldwide.
