Wii fans will likely be familiar with Wii's Internet Channel delivering high-speed Internet access via their television sets in Beta (trial) form. Nintendo just announced that a newer, enhanced version of the browser is now available.
Nintendo asserts that the new Internet Channel sports "improved usability," that the browser now features a manual zoom allowing more viewing flexibility (in addition to the automatic mode available in the previous version). When zooming in and out of a page, text is reportedly kept crisp and readable at all sizes. The new version of the Internet Channel browser also features improved scrolling functionality, collapsible toolbars, multiple on-screen cursors and other built-in functions like a search button powered by Google or Yahoo!
The full version of the Internet Channel is available as a free download through June 30, 2007, after which it will cost 500 Wii Points (approx US$5.00 or C$5.75). Once downloaded, the Internet Channel is free for the lifetime of the system.
