Looney Tunes get game, blow smoke or spill beans
If there ever were such a thing as a golden egg laying goose, the powers that be would have made a videogame about it by now. As it stands, the allegory suffices as Warner Bros. dusts off some old stand-bys and puts some virtual chutzpah into Marvin the Martian's ray gun.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment just announced a new videogame in the works based on those timeless Looney Tunes characters.

Looney Tunes: ACME Arsenal is expected to debut this fall (2007) for Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii. The action-adventure game will feature seven playable Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tazmanian Devil, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, and Gossamer plus a "special secret character."

WB asserts that the two versions will be rendered with "high-definition, next-generation graphics," which is telling on one of two possible fronts. The Wii doesn't do high definition, so the assertion is blatantly invalid at the moment (though it's easily true for the Xbox 360 version). However, there are rumors that a possible firmware update may actually allow for high-def (max 720p) output on the Wii. So, Warner Bros. is either blowing smoke with keywords like "high definition," or they've let slip that the 720p is truly coming to Wii after all. Money's on the smoke blow.

Anyway, Looney Tunes: ACME Arsenal promises single or two player cooperative gameplay of combat, puzzle solving, and vehicle-based action in "environments inspired by the popular, outlandish cartoon tales."

The Xbox 360 version will reportedly feature two-player co-op via Xbox Live while the Wii version will incorporate the Wii-mote's gesture-sensitive sensibilities used in fighting (spin attacks and smash attacks) and driving (turning left and turning right).
