IBM to invest $9 million in Quebec plant
The Quebec Government Supports IBM in its $85-million Investment at its Bromont Plant.

Quebec City - August 17, 2006 - The Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Raymond Bachand and the Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity, Michelle Courchesne, announced funding of $9 million for IBM's Bromont plant to obtain its new world mandate for module testing and assembly. The MNA for Brome-Missisquoi, Pierre Paradis, was also present for this announcement.

The new mandate, which involves a total investment of $85 million by IBM, will create 200 jobs at the Bromont plant, home to the world's largest IBM semiconductor testing and assembly facility.

The Bromont, Quebec plant is one of Canada's leading exporters of technological products, with exports on the order of $700 million. Inaugurated in 1972, the plant is a renowned skills center that supplies a vast range of products to clients that include IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.
