Nintendo recently revealed plans to release a redesigned, slim-line Nintendo DS in Japan this March.

Dubbed the DS Lite, the new unit will be something akin to "iPod white," with a sleeker form factor about a third smaller and with about 20% less heft.

It will sport the same screen sizes as the current DS, except Lite screens will be brighter, reportedly.

Hinted at but not officially announced, DS Lite is expected to be available in North America later this year.
