Indie development house Cryptic Studios, Inc., best known for the massively multiplayer online (MMO) games "City of Heroes" and City of Villains," has just put out a recruiting call and is actively searching for new talent to join their development team.

"You won't be surprised to know we're looking for top-notch programmers and artists," said Michael Lewis, President of Cryptic Studios. "But you might be surprised to find we're also interested in engineering, economics, linguistics and philosophy majors."

With projects in the works on console and PC platforms, Cryptic is planning to announce multiple new massively multiplayer titles later this year.

MMOs are celebrated for their ability to host thousands of players participating in a persistent game world at the same time--one which takes on a life of its own because of that real-time, real-people involvement. A call for engineers, economists, linguists, and philosophers seems indicative of plans to develop a larger, more robust gameworld that can evolve more completely and truthfully no matter what human variables are thrown at it.
