Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop
While game enthusiasts often lament the Wii's comparative lack of hardcore games - and parents praise it for that very same reason - Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop isn't about to make either party particularly happy.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is a remake of last year's critical hit, Dead Rising on Xbox 360.

A straight up zombie bashing/bystander-rescue game set in a mall, gunning down hordes ain't the half of it because anything and everything can be used as a weapon to brain or dismember the undead; campy black humor aplenty and goulish fun throughout. An interactive horror movie spoof, if you will.

But as a Wii game, it's been stripped of its high definition details (stark environs and blotchy graphics will have to do), go-anywhere liberties and the otherwise fundamental ability to jump. Plus, gameplay has been modestly retooled to effectively suit the point and waggle-centric control scheme of the motion sensitive Wii-remote (Wii-mote).

Speaking of which, it's not so much "chop" as it is "flail" 'til you drop. Or flail 'til you tire and then pull out the shotty. There, that's better.

While Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is a poor substitute for the original Xbox 360 game, it does indeed bring some solid hardcore gaming to Wii... for better or worse.
