Juno

It might seem surprising that a low budget teen pregnancy comedy penned by an ex-stripper and featuring an oddball cast would make more than $220 million worldwide, become one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year, and go on to win an Academy Award for best original screenplay, but once you see it you'll immediately understand why this smart little picture has turned so many heads.
Juno is a shrewd, cynical, and wonderfully authentic story about a knocked up high school student who's more mature than she should be, but not as grown up as she thinks. She decides to look for adoptive parents to whom she might give the baby, all the while trying to figure out what kind of girl she is, where she's going, and who is most deserving of the romantic interests of a teen-with-child.
Clever and likeable Canadian actress Ellen Page stars in the title role, and is supported by an odd but remarkable assembly of cream of the crop TV actors, including Arrested Development's Jason Bateman and Michael Cera, Alias' Jennifer Garner, The Closer's J.K. Simmons, The West Wing's Allison Janny, and The Office's Rainn Wilson.
Blu-ray edition special features include a witty commentary voiced by director Jason Reitman and writer Diablo Cody, about half an hour of run-of-the-mill making-of featurettes, and a standard definition digital copy of the film that can be copied to a PC and downloaded to personal media players. However, if you had to choose just one supplement, go for the 20 minutes of deleted scenes, which provide a extra insight into many of the film's characters while delivering plenty of bonus laughs.
